# Tiny Typist > Tiny Typist is a free, gentle browser toy for toddlers aged about 1½ to 4. Every key press, click or tap makes a cute reaction and a soft musical note, and paints one piece of a picture. A finished picture comes to life, then becomes a sticker on a shelf. A grown-up starts, supervises and ends each short session (5 to 15 minutes). Play it at https://tinytypist.ririsoftware.com/ ## What a child sees and hears - Letter keys show a big coloured letter and a matching emoji (A is an apple, Z is a zebra), placed where the key sits on the keyboard. - Number keys show the number with that many chicks. Space blows bubbles, Enter draws a rainbow, the arrow keys send a car, a balloon or a leaf across the screen. Any other key shows a friendly emoji. - Clicks and taps make ripples and confetti; moving the mouse leaves a rainbow sparkle trail. - Sounds come only from a soft C major pentatonic scale, so random mashing always sounds pleasant. There is no voice or speech. - Each press sends a blob of paint into the current piece of a picture. When every piece is painted, the picture comes to life: the house glows, the boat sails, the rocket launches, the car drives off, the hero flies, the animal hops away. Then it turns into a sticker on a shelf that grows across sessions. - Pictures: house, boat, rocket, car and motorbike, plus picture kits (superheroes, racing cars, town cars, animals) that combine parts into thousands of different pictures, so a combination is not repeated while it is recent. ## Designed for toddlers - Nothing to lose: no scores, no fail states, no countdowns, no text the child must read. - Soft and safe visuals: rounded picture-book shapes, no full-screen flashes or strobing, fewer particles when the device asks for reduced motion. - Every input answers: any key, click or tap gets a reaction, even when sound or storage is blocked. ## For parents - Press “Start playing”. In Chrome or Edge on a computer the game goes fullscreen and locks most keys, so a toddler cannot easily leave the page. - Grown-up menu: press and hold the top-left corner for 3 seconds. It shows how long the child has played, keys pressed, pictures finished and a per-minute chart of the session, plus past sessions. - Settings: sound on or off, presses needed per piece (1, 2 or 4) and a wind-down timer (off, 5, 10, 15 or 20 minutes). Near the end the sky dims and sounds soften; then the moon rises, the picture falls asleep and a short lullaby plays, so the session ends calmly. There is no visible countdown. - Export the play data as a file from the grown-up menu. ## Privacy - No accounts, ads, cookies or tracking. - Anonymous visit counts come from Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and sends nothing about play. Fonts are self-hosted. Progress and settings stay in the browser’s local storage on the device. ## Platform - Runs in any modern web browser with JavaScript; works best in Chrome or Edge on a laptop or desktop. - Tablets and phones work by touch. It can be installed as an app (PWA) and works offline after the first visit. - Free to use.
